Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

A yoga therapy session is a personalized approach to healing that integrates the tools of yoga—movement, breathwork, meditation, and mindfulness—with an understanding of the client’s unique physical, mental, and emotional needs. Sessions are one-on-one or in small groups and tailored to address specific concerns, blending ancient practices with modern therapeutic insights.

The goals of yoga therapy include eliminating, reducing, or managing symptoms that cause suffering; improving function; helping to prevent the occurrence or reoccurrence of underlying causes of illness; and moving toward improved health and well-being. Yoga therapy also helps clients/students change their relationship to and identification with their condition. Its efficacy is supported by an increasing body of research evidence, which contributes to the growing understanding and acceptance of its value as a therapeutic discipline.

Yoga therapy is informed by its sister science, Ayurveda.
