  • Breathe Better

    10-hour Breathwork Training
    January 25-26, 2025 • 12-5pm
Love Yoga in Los Angeles, CA

Your breath is not just a part of your practice; it is its essence. It's not just a part of your life, but life itself. Understanding and mastering your breath is the key to unlocking your potential, on and off the mat.

Traditionally, yoga classes begin or end with Pranayama (breathing techniques.) Less attention is given to day-to-day breathing or breathing within poses beyond being told when to inhale and exhale. True functional breathing is more than inhaling and exhaling from an external cue.

In this 10-hour all-levels training, you will:

Understand the relationship between daily functional breathing and pranayama

Delve into the biochemistry and biomechanics of breathing

Discover why understanding the Ayurvedic vayus are crucial to understanding pranayama

Measure how functional your day-to-day breathing is

Learn to train your respiratory system to be more efficient and imbue the body with more oxygen

Increase adaptability and resilience to stress on a cellular level

Practice seasonal pranayama techniques and tailor them to the changing state of your unique body-mind

When you become a master of your breathing, nothing can throw you off center.

You can attend one or both sessions. Day 2 is designed to build from and contextualize Day 1.

Day 1: Saturday, January 25th - The Science of Everyday Breathing

Day 2: Sunday, January 26th - The Art of Pranayama

Imagine a world where your shoulders move effortlessly, free from stiffness and limitations.

“Shouldering It All,” a transformative yoga therapeutics weekend meticulously designed to empower you with strength, flexibility, and freedom of movement in your shoulder girdle.

A strong shoulder girdle is the literal foundation of many yoga poses, but it is also essential in daily activities.

Through expertly sequenced asanas and exercises specifically targeted to potentiate these joints, you will gain flexibility by opening the chest muscles, stretching the shoulders, and strengthening the muscles that stabilize and support this crucial region of the body.

    What You Will Learn

    - The anatomy of the four joints that make up the shoulder girdle

    - Simple movements and stretches that can be easily incorporated into your daily routine to reverse pain, stiffness, and limitations.

    - How to best avoid the common misalignments that can lead to injury.

    - Why our collective posture and sedentary lifestyle can be so detrimental to the health of these joints.

    - The energetic anatomy and why mindset is crucial in strong, pain-free shoulders.

Delve into poses that engage the core, the back, and the arms to build a strong and stable foundation for shoulder mobility. With a focus on alignment and mindful movement, you will develop the strength necessary to gracefully move through your practice and daily life with newfound ease.

As a certified yoga therapist, Kari wholeheartedly believes in the mind-body connection. This weekend intensive also incorporates mindfulness practices and mind-body healing techniques to deepen your awareness of the shoulder girdle’s intricate mechanics and connections to the heart and mind, as well as the breath and movement.

Whether you are a yogi or yoga teacher wanting to expand your understanding of the shoulder girdle, a yoga therapist looking to serve your clients better, or someone seeking relief from shoulder pain and discomfort, this weekend will leave you with a sense of greater understanding and empowerment of how to better care for and support this area of the body, so you can genuinely "shoulder it all."
