The Sunday of Summer
Are you a person who loves Sundays? Or do you begin to feel anxious about the Monday that is looming?
Do you feel the same way about August?
In a sense, August is the "Sunday of Summer." In fact, instead of enjoying all the fullness this month offers, I've heard people are already talking about how summer feels like it's over.
August is peaches and blueberries and reading in hammocks. (#lifegoals)
Lake swims and dinners straight from the gardens thanks to the lettuce and tomatoes bursting right now. And lots and lots of squash.
I confess that at the beginning of July, it felt like the weeks were flying by. It seemed like summer would be gone too soon at that run rate.
Getting back from vacation and having to pack and organize the paperwork for the 3 kids' different camps and trips felt like a frenzy. I had to get very purposeful and organized and get a big picture view of these two months to visualize time and how it was moving.
Two of my kids are now at a 3 week-long summer camp, and I am using my time well. Planning projects for the farm, spending tons of time with my daughter who is a rising senior. Getting plenty of rest, and looking forward to two more trips that Eric and I are taking this month. And there's also the Katonah Yoga Retreat that I am leading in Spain at Suryalila in September.
For the first time… summer seems almost everlasting… and August is laid out before me like one of those idyllic and expansive Sundays that you have all to yourself. Full of promise and possibility.
I hope you enjoy all that August has to offer. After all, it only comes around once a year.
Happy "Sunday of Summer" to you and yours,
With so much love and many, many peaches,
Kari
