What You Do Matters
Fergus got neutered this week.⠀
I took this photo of him right after the procedure. He was just coming out of sedation and loaded up with pain meds.⠀⠀
Many aren't so lucky…⠀
After the vet sedated him, I sat in the grass next to Fergus, ready to catch him as he gradually faded into goat la-la land. When he fell into my arms, I started crying; partly because it reminded me of all the times I'd been present when one of my animals took a final breath, and I was also lamenting for all the farm animals who aren't as blessed as Fergus.⠀⠀
Our vet, Dr. Karen, shared the sad fact that on most commercial goat farms, the castrations and de-horning are done by the farmhands/owners, i.e., NOT by VETS and WITHOUT sedation.⠀These are factory farms, the goals of which are to optimize output and minimize costs. FACT: Animals on factory farms are the most abused animals.
How does this connect with yoga?
The yoga journey for many is undoubtedly about enhancing our physical, energy, emotional and spiritual natures. However, inevitably it evolves into raising our own consciousness and that of others and society.
Lofty? Perhaps. However, each of us matters.
Ok. I'll get off the soapbox. However, please find time to better understand the impact of factory farming on your health, the environment, and global psychic energy. There are almost 10 billion land mammals living in misery and slaughtered annually, and I encourage you to include all sentient beings both in your yoga and meditation practice as well as your consumer choices.

Let our practice together this week continue to strengthen our physical, energy, emotional, and spiritual natures.
What are those choices you might make that contribute to the greater good?
Moreover, I encourage you to also make healthy choices about what you put into your incredible bodies.
Because What You Do Matters.

Change the World.⠀
