I was deeply touched by all of the well-wishes I received after my newsletter last week.
Thank you for all of your healing vibes.
I am happy to report that I am recovered from COVID. After visiting the orthopedist, I learned that my wrist is not fractured-only severely sprained. Occupational therapy begins Thursday.
Health and healing are of the utmost importance for all of us. As a Yoga Therapist and soon-to-be Ayurvedic Health Counselor, they are my livelihood. Moreover, as the caretaker of three children and over 30 animals, it is my way of life. In an interdependent wellness-triad; health, healing, and happiness are intimately connected. My work focuses on prevention, which is always better than managing and chasing symptoms and disease.
What I love about Ayurveda is this same principle.
In fact, one of my favorite sutras from the Caraka Samhita, one of the compendiums on Ayurveda, is Nidana parivarjanam, which translates to "avoid the cause."
So simple, right? To avoid any dis-ease, simply avoid what causes it. Hence, so much of Ayurveda is about diet and lifestyle to maintain health and happiness.
With Spring in full swing, many people are finding themselves dealing with runny noses, allergies, and feelings of mental and physical sluggishness.
Spring is the season when we traditionally do deep cleaning in our closets, garages, sheds, etc. It is also a great time to do a cleanse.
Your body is your house, and now is the time to clean out winter's cold, dampness, and stagnation.
This weekend, Larissa Carlson and I will be leading a 3-hour Kapha Balancing Workshop to help you do just that.
The practices will leave you feeling radiant and vibrant as we teach you how to balance the wet, heavy qualities that come out in early Spring.
This will be an educational and experiential workshop as we delve into diet and lifestyle tweaks to help you:
keep a spring in your step;
open your lungs;
and,
evaporate mental cloudiness.
And now, the best part is that even if you can not make it in person to the workshop, we will send you the recording to do as your schedule allows.
