Organize yourself.

Yoga is demanding, but yoga works. You orient yourself and you organize yourself, because, let’s face it: life is disorienting and disorganized. Wake up and see where you are. Fulfill your potential, and go after your heart’s greatest desire.

Kari Harendorf
Co-founder of Better Yoga

Kari Harendorf is a C_IAYT and E_RYT 500 Yoga Teacher Trainer, Reiki Master, Katonah Yoga® Senior Instructor, and Ayurvedic Health Counselor. She merges physical and spiritual practice with health science to help her students achieve their highest levels of physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being.

Kari formerly led 200 and 1000-Hour Trainings and Anatomy and Injury Prevention Workshops at The Kripalu Schools of Yoga and Ayurveda. She is also a Master Trainer of Urban Zen’s Integrative Therapy Program teaching Reiki, essential oils, yoga therapy, and nutrition to medical caregivers. For the past decade, Kari has been leading teacher trainings and workshops with her teachers and mentors Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman of Yoga Shanti in New York and Sag Harbor.

Kari teaches weekly asana in the Berkshires at Kripalu and other local studios. Her classes are designed to help students recognize the body’s inherent perfect design and innate desire to be healthy, as inspired by her teachers Abbie Galvin and Nevine Michaan (Founder) of the Katonah Yoga Method. Kari’s focus on pursuing precise anatomical alignment helps her students build self-awareness and self-healing.

Kari is the founder of New York’s recently closed East Yoga Center studio and the former star of Animal Planet’s K9 Karma TV Show, where she famously merged her passion for yoga and dogs with a monthly “Doga” class. She has been featured in publications including Yoga Journal, The New York Times, Wall St. Journal, Real Simple and on television for The Martha Stewart Show, ABC News, and Fox & Friends.

Kari lives in the mountains of Great Barrington, MA on a farm with her partner, Eric, three children, rescue dogs, goats, horses, chickens, and rabbits. She grew up in Toronto, Canada and holds a B.F.A. from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

"Kari is the kind of yogini that is taking modern yoga to its next incarnation. Through her sincere study she is piercing through the knots of her own illusion and awaking to a light that reveals a more honest way of living in the world. She also understands how to educate and integrate yoga into the institutional world of health and wellness. She honors us all with her integrity and her deep embodied knowledge resulting from Yoga."

“Over many years of practicing yoga, I'm thrilled to be working with Kari. She's very attentive, knows the body in exquisite detail and somehow magically targets the areas that create more freedom of movement and release vitality. I no longer have pain from previous injuries; more importantly, I've learned to have a closer and happier relationship with my body.”
